Mary Haines (Meg Ryan) is a clothing designer who seems to have everything - a beautiful house, a rich financial husband, a lovely 11-year-old daughter and a part-time career to create designs his father venerable clothing company.
His best friend, Sylvie Fowler (Annette Bening), takes another enviable life - a happy single editor of a prominent fashion magazine, a possessor of a huge wardrobe of designer clothes and a venerable arbiter of taste and style prepared in New York Cutting edge.
But when the husband of Mary enters into an affair with Crystal Allen (Eva Mendes), a suffocating 'spritzer girls' behind the perfume counter Saks Fifth Avenue, all hell breaks loose. Mary and the relationship Sylvie is proof to break point while his tight circle of friends together, including mega-mom Edie Cohen (Debra Messing) and author Alex Fisher (Jada Pinkett-Smith), all begin to question their own friendships and romantic relationships as well.
