After learning that his father has disappeared, a French retraces his tragic family history. Adapted from a fact-based book by Philippe Grimbert.
He reported that his elderly father has mysteriously disappeared, anxious Parisian Francois (Mathieu Amalric) recalls his tragic family history with the director Claude Miller's adaptation of reality-based novel by author Philippe Grimbert. As young children sick, Francois (Valentin Vigourt) instinctively knew he was a disappointment to his mother Tania champion swimmer (Cecile de France) and Maxime gymnast father (Patrik Bruel).
While Francois is a certain amount of comfort in his friendship with the kindness of masseur Louise (Julie Depardieu), his discovery of a strange toy in the attic of their cause to parents to act more strange to him than ever. Feeling sympathy for the boy, Louise finally reveals to François that he once had a half-brother, and his parents were not drawn from fairies together romance, but through violence and conflict. Back before the war, became Maxime engaged in the beautiful Hannah (Ludivine Sagnier). While Hannah's parents are very aware of the ominous consequences of Hitler's rise to power, Maxime little worried as always considered himself French first.
At the wedding, however, Maxime frequently found his gaze wandering from his girlfriend to fetch the athletic beauty Tania. Later, after the happily married girlfriend gives birth to a handsome young man named Simon (Orlando Nicoletti), the Nazis invade and once-happy family is torn violently broken.
