In 1999, five days shook the world in tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Seattle protesting the World Trade Organization (WTO). Environmentalists, consumer advocates, unions, students, anarchists and pacifists all converged, bringing attention to how the WTO laws affecting democracy throughout the world.
These include Django (Andre Benjamin), Sam (Jennifer Carpenter), Lou (Michelle Rodriguez) and Jay (Martin Henderson). United in their desire to be heard and make a difference for these protesters, this is very personal and the stakes are higher than mere politics. A peaceful demonstration to stop the WTO negotiations is growing rapidly on a scale of disturbances and a possible state of emergency results.
The streets are chaos, the WTO is paralysed. Caught in the crossfire are residents of Seattle, including its embattled mayor (Ray Liotta), a riot police on the streets (Woody Harrelson) and his pregnant wife (Charlize Theron).
