The rich multi Charlotte Cartwright (Kathy Bates) and her dear friend Alice Pratt (Alfre Woodard), a working class woman of high ideals, have enjoyed a lasting friendship over many years.
Suddenly, their lives were plunged into turmoil on their adult children of extramarital affairs, business practices unethical and paternity of a dark secret threaten to derail the family fortunes and undo the lives of everyone involved.
Amid the turmoil, Charlotte and Alice decides to take a respite from all over doing a cross-country road trip in which to rediscover themselves and possibly find a way to save their families from ruin.
